Muralism is part our our collective voice. It reflects a commitment to art and culture in comibination with a high potential for critical and democratic expression. We see muralismo as a screen onto which concerns feelings and ideas are projected; as an interactive tool that changes and renews itself, as alive as the city, and, why not? as a sign of its identity.
Based on a highly participative structure, the IMVG creates murals on the facades of buildings, starting in the medieval quarter of Vitoria-Gasteiz and extending into new neighborhoods over time. The result is a street-level gallery where process and product share equal value.

The IMVG is a street level gallery in the heart of the city, in its medieval center. These monuments to community muralism share space with hundred year old buildings, churches, cathedrals, palaces, etc.

The Tour
Each mural has its own story, its meaning and its secrets. Each one was painted in workshop settings with collaboration from artists and non artists alike, neighbors and citizens of all ages, professions, nationalities, etc.
On the tour you will also pass a majority of the medieval monuments of the city with which the murals share the common space.
